This application comes with the lots of features which are organized clearly in the menu. SheetCam has a good user interface where users can start the work of design and patterns.
It has a very easy and simple installation process for the users, when installation is completed and you start the application first time you will be greeted with the splash window which specify required details regarding the sheets according to your need. The final products of these two files will be indistinguishable.īelow is an example of SheetCam defaults (left) and Avid CNC defaults (right).SheetCam is an application which has been developed to design the patterns which is used with milling machines, laser, waterjet or any other cutting devices. Smoothing will result in geometry differences that are smaller than the normal variation in kerf width throughout a cut. Smoothing the imported vectors will result in smaller file size (1/3 - 1/2 reduction in gcode lines) and smoother motion. Plasma is a relatively rough cutting method that cannot achieve very fine tolerances. The Avid CNC Post and Tools installer changes some of the settings from default to better match the capabilities and needs of plasma cutting. More detail on the settings is available in Help -> Help Window -> Menu Items -> Options Menu.
There are settings in Options -> Application Options -> Drawing Import that SheetCam uses to smooth and simplify vectors when drawings are imported.
